Procedures

Examination under black-light, microscope, light table, digital imaging and tactile observation. Documentation by Lindsay Simmons of Poster Mountain Inc.

Conclusion

Poster was poorly framed against corrugated cardboard with heavy masking tape at all fold lines on verso. Paper was brown and extremely brittle, especially in the areas where it had been under tape. Some disintegration occurred while removing tape.
Poster was re-hydrated and linen-backed by Poster Mountain on 10/30/2009 using cotton canvas and Masa paper substrate.
Paper losses were replaced and filled. Airbrush in-painting was done in the border, within the face, to the yellow title, the woman's leg and lower section of her dress, and in the yellow text rectangle at the bottom. Detail restoration was performed with a combination of watercolor and pencil.
